From World War One to the Velvet Revolution

This timeline presents the most important events in Czech history during the twentieth century. It begins with the First World War and the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic and ends with the Velvet Revolution. The selection is dominated by political and dramatic historical events. Czechoslovakia is presented as having been beset by a succession of wars, coups and occupations throughout the twentieth century, which finally came to an end with the revolution of 1989.

This Czech history book is designed for year nine pupils at special schools, which are not specified further. It was approved by the Ministry for Schools, Youth and Sport in 1992. The 1995 edition is presumably therefore not the first edition.
