At the heart of WorldViews is the collection of excerpts from textbooks on history, geography, social studies or political education. These excerpts are provided in digital form, as transcribed full texts, and translated into German and English. In terms of content, the excerpts (which vary in length from one paragraph to three consecutive pages) address topics that are as distinctive as possible in terms of representation, interpretive patterns and/or perspective.

For the benefit of research the sources are presented as they exist in the original documents. The material reflects the context in which it was created and not the views of the editors. Via entries in the glossary we are aiming at f.i. clarifying the development of such terms and concepts as well as opening up scientific studies.
