International GroupingsWe have already explained that we are not just citizens of Ireland; we are citizens of the world. Ireland and the EU
Ireland joined the European Economic Community in 1973. The United Kingdom and Denmark joined the EEC on the same day bringing the membership up to nine countries. Much has changed since then. The EEC is now known as the European Union and there are 27 member states today. Much has changed in Ireland too since 1973. Ireland has benefited from being a member of the EU - the EU has benefited also from Ireland’s membership!
